Pulse of the Planet is a short daily radio program on NPR stations that blends information with sounds recorded from real life.  Yesterday a Facebook friend alerted me that  Pulse of the Planet had recently replayed a series of four programs they produced about the Roma people in 2011.  The programs feature music by Roma musicians, basic information about the Roma, and some windows into their everyday lives.

Go check out the programs when you have time - there are four programs (about two minutes each) and you can stream them on the website or download them as MP3.  Access the stories below.

It's refreshing to hear accurate and respectful portrayals of the Roma Gypsy people, which are not common in television and movies!

Part 1 - Roma: Origins

Part 2 - Roma: Nomadic

Part 3 - Roma: Census

Part 4 - Roma: Amplified Music
